I’ve been really enjoying this week in between Christmas and New Year’s.
Last night I went to a New Year’s Eve “Eve” party which I’m considering my “big night out” so that I can be with the kid's tonight. Below you will see what I wore with little tidbits about the evening. Tonight I’m staying in with the kids and G will come over to celebrate the New York time zone countdown and I’ll get to bed early. I’m really excited to start January 1st hangover free with strong intentions (more on that later).
I wrote this newsletter pre “announcement” on social media about my personal life and then popped the pictures in this morning. I’m trying to step away from work for a hot second so some of the content you may see here this week was previously written to allow me some space to breathe.
Last week, we formally shared our news for so many reasons, but the most important reason was that we felt like it was the best time for us. At the end of the day, that is really all that matters: what works best for you and your family. Between the move, the holidays, and the announcement, I feel like I am finally in a place where we can all settle in to what this new normal routine will look like. What better time to start than a fresh new year!?
As for this Substack, it feels really strange to share tidbits of my personal life and then jump into outfits, but that’s what Sundays are for - outfits! This year was a logistical nightmare personally, and there were many days that I stayed in my sweats until noon (like today). As we enter 2024, my goal is to GET DRESSED again (I’m laughing while I type that). I hope to dedicate this space to the reason I started blogging way back in 2011 to being with: my love of shopping and offering you curated favorites and tips.
I cannot thank you all enough for your support. I just recently started this tiny little Substack. Our community has grown quite quickly and I’m honestly just so grateful to have this space to connect. I really value your support.
Cheers to 2024!

I had this Rotate Birger Christensen dress handy for weeks knowing that my friend Ariel was having an “Eve” party. Given the frilly sleeves and bottom, I thought it best to not overkill the look with fussy hair.
I went super minimal with my makeup and did a slight bend in my hair with a straight iron. I’m very much in to the contrast of dressy dressing with minimal, toned down beauty. I wanted a little pop of color for my lip, but nothing too harsh, so I went with MAC Mocha. I rarely wear lip color but I like this one because it’s kind of an orangey, salmony, peach color that looks a bit faded when you blot it on.
I haven’t worn heels for hours in years (does that make sense?). Camelia Satin Pumps by Amina Muaddi. Really amazing look for less here.
D.M.J. Ring and Retrouvai Pinky Ring
It was a really fun evening but I was still in bed by 11:30pm (grandma, I know).
I hope you all have an amazing night ringing in the New Year!
Until next time,
JD x
Cheers to fresh starts and getting dressed in 2024 🥂
