I feel like a new person.
After spending 10 days offline in The Big Island Hawaii who wouldn’t feel like a new person I suppose? I have several key takeaways so let’s dive straight in:
I need to set stronger boundaries to protect myself. My sanity, my mind, my heart, my time, my family and my physical body all need to be guarded and protected as if my life depend on it (because my life does depend on it).
Rainfall determines an amount of vegetation and growth. Without rainfall, nothing will grow after a volcanic eruption. Therefore, you must appreciate a change in weather, a change in season, and allow for the water to fall because without rain, or tears, there can be no growth.
Delete social media almost every single day. It will do wonders for your mind.
The tallest mountain in the world may not get all of the credit or attention for being the tallest mountain in the world.
There can be a dreadful freedom found within chaos.
Everything is considered a good omen when you have a positive outlook on life.
Sleep, sleep, sleep, and more sleep can do a body a whole lotta good.
The world is our oyster if we allow it to be.
If you cannot move through your fear and connect with yourself, there’s absolutely no way you are going to connect with others.
The only way to move through the knots is to knead away at them slowly.
I hope it goes without saying that I feel so incredibly thankful for being able to take this time to myself. I cannot thank the wonderful people at the Rosewood Kona Village enough for taking such special care of me during this time. They really understood that I needed to be “offline” and respected my very short time away from social media. I cannot recommend this property enough if you are considering a trip to The Big Island. It is such a magical place that I 100000% suggest going to, especially this holiday season. It’s truly magical.
Okay, here is what I wore. I honestly packed just for me and wasn’t putting too much thought into my outfits because I wanted to unwind. So, you’ll see a lot of repeat items here.
La Double J Dress, Roger Vivier Sandals, The Row Park Tote
Wyeth Linen Shirt, Wyeth Linen Shorts, L.L. Bean Boat Tote
Eberjey Ribbed Pajama shorts that I wore in Cabo too (love these as a little short to pop on over swim), Hermés Oran Sandal (look for less here), Janessa Leone Tanner Bag, Men’s classic Polo shirt and the La Ligne Marin sweater tied around my shoulders because it was 6am and slightly chilly.
Old Zimmermann dress, Roger Vivier Sandals, The Row Park Tote
Palm Springs Kaftan by Wyeth, the best tote by Little Liffner called the Sprout, Hermés Oran sandals
Elleme Bag which I found via Ashley Kane and I’m obsessed. I kind of want another one. Toteme dress which I raved about this summer, Hermes Oran, Black Marin sweater in a M
I am officially a Bond-Eye swimsuit kinda gal. The cut reminds me of 90s J.Crew. It’s super high on the thigh and I simply cannot get enough. I ordered this one in black and white to go with the red one I already stole from Meg. I’m also wearing my favorite Le Specs sunnies.
Wyeth Linen Shirt, Wyeth Linen Shorts, Polo Hat and same Janessa Leone Tote
Another shout out to my new favorite Bond-Eye swimsuits
Wyeth Linen Shorts, Céline striped button down {a few years old}
Really obsessed with all things Posse and I’ve nearly worn this dress out over the last several months. So much that I might order another one in black {size up}.
Books I Read:
Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow
Anna: The Biography (highly recommend)
The 12 Rules for Life (not for me but maybe I’ve read too many self help books)
Glossy (not for me but it was really hard to follow my reading of Anna)
Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself (fantastic!)
Okay, that’s all for now!
Until next time,
JD xx
I know you say “dressing for yourself” as if it’s lesser than, but I LOVE those looks and have been thinking about them all day. Came back to screenshot! Maybe you just dressed in your most genuine way and it’s resonating strongly! 👏🏼
Well done taking care of yourself!
