Greetings from the Rocky Mountains!
I spent the most magical 4th of July weekend in Aspen with the family and it was one for the record books. I cannot begin to tell you how much fun we all had spending time together. We’re seeing and feeling the bright path forward that we’ve been paving the way for the past year and let me tell you… it feels great!
One thing I’m always drawn to while spending time in Aspen are the trees.
There was a time that I become so obsessed with trees that I took three trips in one year specifically to check out trees (i.e. the General Sherman et al but I digress).
So what makes aspens so special? They share roots! One aspen tree is actually only a small part of a larger organism. A stand or group of aspen trees is considered a singular organism with the main life force underground in the extensive root system. The oldest known aspen clone has lived more than 80,000 years on Utah’s Fishlake National Forest. Yes, I once drove to see this grove in person and it was one of the most energetic moments in my life. I’ve never felt anything quite like it. Ever since that trip, I’ve felt a pull to aspen trees. I just love that it may seem like they stand alone but in reality, they’re so deeply connected by the root.
It’s become a spiritual symbolism for how I want our family to move forward. Always connected, no matter what.
Okay, now to the fun stuff… here’s what I wore.

Until next time, JD x
