I’m sitting at my desk on Saturday morning at 11am, feeling an immense amount of gratitude for the week we just had in Hawaii with my family. I just dropped the kids off with their dad after 10 straight sleeps together, which is a rarity, and my heart feels so full. Do I feel like I just dropped both of my arms off and I’m walking around missing body parts? Absolutely. But I’m also so thankful for the time we had together.

My parents, my brother and his family, and my kids and I spent the week on the Big Island, which is my favorite island in Hawaii. In the past, I’ve always stayed at Rosewood Kona Village, which is easily one of my favorite hotels in the world, but this time we wanted a house setup with a kitchen and pool for the kids. After asking around, one of my close friends highly recommended the Moana Kea Residences (more on that later). I’m beyond happy with our choice and we had the best time ever. Time really seemed slower this week and there were a few things I incorporated in an effort to do this.

1. Art projects. Every morning I brought out colors and paper and had the kids draw what they saw. Not everyone wanted to participate, but my daughter June loves art and she soaked it right up daily. We did this first thing every morning while I enjoyed the view with coffee, watching her focus on her project.

2. A 1,000-piece puzzle as a family. This was something that happened unexpectedly. I honestly don’t recall who busted it out but I’m so thankful for the time we shared together agonizing over the board. We laughed, bantered and it was time well spent off our devices morning, noon and night. It now feels like something we’ll turn into a tradition on our trips together (which we have a few of planned this year!).

3. Swimming. This sounds silly but I mean really swimming. I love to swim but sometimes I’ll get wrapped up in my book or phone while the kids are occupied but this trip I got in the ocean and pool with them every day. My favorite moments from the trip were the ones we spent swimming and boogie boarding together.

Posse Top, Posse Shorts, Janessa Leone Suni Hat

I also gave June the camera a lot this trip because she was begging for it. Her photos ended up being some of my all time favorites. In the above, I’m wearing what is easily my most worn set lately has been this striped number by Posse. I wear the top and shorts together, as separates, and it’s already gotten so much play in my wardrobe (and it’s not even summer yet!). It’s super comfortable, lightweight and easy to pack.

You can find all of my outfits linked here, including daily videos.

Jenni Kayne Post Pullover, Hunza G Swimsuit

Speaking of stripes, I am obsessed with the fabric of the new Post Pullover by Jenni Kayne. I used this as a light layer on evenings that felt chilly. I even wore it down to the pool one morning over my one piece.

Little pops of red are on full rotation right now. for me This mini skirt from Reformation checks all the boxes on ease, comfort and style. I wore it with an oversized white t-shirt from Jenni Kayne (which will be restocked April 1st). I dressed it up a notch with my favorite Hunting Season necklace and strappy sandals by Amanu.

If my beach personality were an outfit, I think it would be this one. I feel like “me” in this easy to throw on ensemble. I’ve gotten so much wear out of these silk shorts. I think the trick to silk shorts is to not treat them too preciously. Consider them your new denim shorts for summer. I’m wearing my Suni Bucket Hat on repeat and as you know I’m the biggest fan girl of Hunting Season.

Let’s dive into the house now… We rented a really fun house (linking below) in the Mauna Kea Residences. Because it was on the property, we had full access to both hotels (Westin and Mauna Kea) which made exploring really fun for everywhere.
